Least Restrictive Environment

IDEA requires that students with disabilities be educated in the regular classroom with their nondisabled peers to the maximum extent appropriate.  The Least Restrictive Environment is the instructional arrangement in which the student receives maximum educational benefits while participating in the general educational environment as much as possible.
